Betty J. Bender, 86, of Conklin, died March 3, 2017.  She is survived one daughter, Patricia Setzer, her sons John E. Bender, III, Richard Bender and Mark (Sheila) Romain, her former son-in-law, Timothy Setzer,  sisters Mary Ann Travis and Caroline (Tom) Perry, a brother, William (Thelma) Moore, 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and loving extended family. She was predeceased by her husband John E. Bender, Jr., a son, James Bender and a sister Hazel Robinson. Betty loved traveling, especially cruises, gardening and spending times with loved ones, especially the family camping trips to Chenango Valley State Park and Saturday shopping days with her sister and nieces.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at the Crossroads of Life Church, 20 Exchange St. Binghamton, with her nephew Pastor Dann Travis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of service. There will be a private burial in Conklin Cemetery.
