Our hearts were broken when Charles "Chuck" R. Smith, our loving husband, father and grandfather died suddenly on Saturday February 6, 2016 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY at the age of 58.

Chuck was born in Factoryville, Pennsylvania on may 28, 1957, son of Clarence and Anna (Thomas) Smith.  He worked for many years as a mechanic at Sandy Zanghis car dealership. He lived his entire life in the Scranton area until moving to New York in 2006, eventually settling in Port Crane, NY.

His family remember him as the best husband, father and grandfather anyone could ever want. His greatest joy in life was his family. He also loved cars and his work as a mechanic. He was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed fishing. Generous to a fault, he always thought of his family and friends before his own needs and would always extend a hand to anyone in need of a favor or help.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Howey) Smith of Port Crane and their eighteen children, Chad and Brian Howey of Scranton, Ashley Ambrose of Port Crane, Eric Howey of Scranton, Danielle and Dustin Howey of Port Crane, Charles Smith of Port Crane, Kricket and Casey Smith of Scranton, Bristy and Trysta Smith of Port Crane, Krysta Smith of West Pittston, Kaylee Smith of Binghamton, Skylar Smith of Scranton, Shawn, Corey, Steven and Mathew Smith, all of Port Crane, along with 31 cherished grandchildren, his brothers Thomas and Albert and sister Roseann, all of Scranton, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Francis and sister Alice.

The family will receive friends at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. There will be no formal funeral services. Following the visitation he will be cremated.
