Cornelius "Mac" McGhee , 79, died Friday, January, 15, 2016 at his home succumbing to his courageous battle with cancer and multiple sclerosis.  He was born and raised in Dooly County, Byromville, Ga. becoming a lifelong resident of Binghamton, NY in 1956.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Beulah Mae(Kendrick) McGhee; his son, Richie McGhee (Christine Mandl-McGhee), his daughter, Darlene McGhee (Dean Schaffer); brothers, Ernie McGhee, Melvin "Rock" McGhee and Edward McGhee(Mary Louise) ; sisters, Bernice McGhee Hampton, Louise McGhee and Dorothy Jean McGhee,  two grandchildren Richie McGhee II and Alexa Shick; sister in laws Jane McGhee, Rosie "Cookie" McGhee,  Mary Jolly and Annajean Hampton; special nieces Betty Harris, Annette Hampton, Tammy Hampton and a host of other nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents; Willie McGhee and Carrie Lou (Spivey) McGhee, brothers Willie Jr (Charlie Mae) McGhee, Dave(Eddie Mae) McGhee, John McGhee and Marvin McGhee; sister Zula Bell McGhee.

Mac was employed Dunn and McCarthy Shoe Factory and then at IBM Corporation, having a 17 year career at IBM Corp. retiring in July of 1993. He was an avid baseball fan and loved the Dodgers from Brooklyn days to their current home in LA..  In his early years he was a member of the Binghamton Lions, the first and only Black Baseball Team in Binghamton back in the early 60's.  Mac also, developed a passion for playing guitar and music taught himself how to play guitar and began playing in a blues band in 1965.  This would lead into a side career of playing and singing blues music in several local establishments in the Binghamton area until he retired from music July 19, 2009 at which time he was awarded by the mayor a Key to the City of Binghamton, that he and his family are very proud of.
