Donald J. Wickwire, 43, died Friday evening December 15, 2017 at his home after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Binghamton, son of the late Donald F. and Marilyn (Yates) Wickwire. He is survived by the family he deeply loved and cherished; his companion Jaclyn Wright, his children Kaitlinn (Scott) Carroll, Veronica Wickwire, Charles (Kendra) Bateman, Shelby Utter, Kaydence Wright and Makenzie Dutton, his step-children Cymantha Scott and BrittanyLee Townsend, brothers Josh (Krisi) Wickwire, Omar Afify, Tate Mauzy and Eric Mauzy, step-father, Jeff (Kristin) Mauzy, also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, dear friends and his beloved dogs Tucker and Sergeant. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Nathaniel and his dog Wendy.

Don was employed by Bothar Construction as a truck boss. He enjoyed his work and loved his truck which he affectionately named "Optimus Prime".  He was also an avid fisherman.
Don loved his family and friends deeply and could always be depended upon to help any one of them in their time of need. If there was something that needed to be done, he did it. He was determined and stubborn and worked things through to completion. He fought his cancer with the full measure of his strength and only succumbed when he had nothing more to give.
The family will receive friends at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 pm. There will be a time to share memories beginning at 6:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to the Broome County Dog Shelter, 110 Cutler Pond Rd.
