Elizabeth “Libby” Faughnan took her first breath in Heaven on March 20, 2016. Libby forbid her family to list her age in her obituary so we can only say she was “between the womb and the tomb”.  She was met and helped over to the other side by her loving husband Richard “Blackie” Faughnan, (who would cry at supermarket openings), her mother and father Kathryn and Peter McNamara, and her faithful feline companion Picabo.  She was also predeceased by her cousin Jack Canny and his wife Jean; Her brothers and sisters in law Edwin and Hazel Faughnan; Jack Faughnan; Donald and Mary “Sis” Faughnan; Charles Faughnan and David Wheat.  She is survived by her son Sean Faughnan and his wife Ann Marie of Binghamton NY, their children Matthew and his wife Samantha, Megan, and Mackenzie; by her son Kerry Faughnan and his wife Michelle of Las Vegas, NV,  Kerry’s children Sean, Hollie, Reagan, and Kailey;  her son Kevin Faughnan of Glen Aubrey, NY, his children Brittney Geertgens and her husband Troy, and Corey Faughnan; and by her daughter Kelly Faughnan Budd of Las Vegas, NV, her children Alison Budd (Libby’s forever Pal), and Madeline Willis and her husband Kyle; and by her great grandchildren Ella, Mason, Gavin, McKenna and Kolton; and by her surrogate daughter Kathy Ashman who, with the help of Alison and her boyfriend Anthony Atwell, did the work of the angels the last few years of Libby’s life; by her sisters in law Sophia “Carol” Faughnan and Doris Wheat and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Home Rehab unit and the staff at Wilson Hospital North Tower 3 for their loving care of Libby during her final days.  Libby was a Boston Red Sox fan, except those few years when she put a curse on them due to her husband’s obsession with them.  Libby left her children with many words of wisdom including “God does not pay at the end of every week; but he pays” and “you never miss the water until the well runs dry”.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 pm Friday April 1, 2016 at Hopler & Eschbach Funeral home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday April 2, at the funeral home,  followed by a private burial in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
