A deeply loving and loved woman, Gloria M. Scaperoth, age 94, passed away Tuesday September 13, 2016 with her loving daughter Aida at her side.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, eighth child of Antonio and Michaelina (Fasano) Pinto. She made her home in Brooklyn and then in W. Hempstead, NY, where she raised her only child, Aida.

Gloria was in many ways a woman ahead of her time. Strong and independent, she began her working career as an executive secretary in the business world of Manhattan. Working for many companies and in many capacities over the years, she was very capable and often supervised many projects and people.

Kind hearted and generous she loved to bake and knit and often shared her completed items with family, friends and the community.

In later life she moved to Port Dickinson to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. In recent years as her health declined the examples of love and strength she exhibited during her lifetime were reciprocated as she was lovingly cared for at home until the very end by her daughter Aida.

Surviving is one beloved daughter, Aida Rahman, cherished grandchildren; Gloria (Shawn) Maximo and Dhaamin (fiancee - Jamie Burnham) Maximo, her precious great-grandchildren, Yve and Ashley and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings.

A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be determined. You are invited to sign Gloria's online guestbook, sharing a memory and a message of comfort for those who are left behind.

Cremation services were provided under the care and direction of the Hopler &  Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY
