Harold Leonard Truax, 90, a lifelong resident of Binghamton was called to his new home in Heaven, August 5, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty (McFall) Truax, his devoted children, Thomas (Sharon) Truax and Sharon (William) Bennett, 5 cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Chris), Jason (Debbie), David (Janelle), Paul (Jenean) and Marissa (David), 6 great-grandchildren Peri, Lauren, Eli, Sebastian, Phoenix and Ava, a brother Walter and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Myrtle, a sister Dorothy and brother Edward. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 1st Cavalry. Harold worked alongside his father in the family business, Truax Heating. A faithful Christian, Harold was a member of Grace Baptist Church for seventy years, where he sang in the choir and worked many years as the church custodian. He enjoyed bowling and rollerskating.
Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Sunday August 14 at the Grace Baptist Church 33 Howard Ave. Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Private burial will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Harold's church or Lourdes Hospice.
