Helen (Fickett) Payne, age 89, died January 25, 2015 at home after a short illness. She was predeceased by her husband Leo G. Payne. Helen was a skilled artisan teaching ceramics for over 25 years. She also taught the art of making and painting porcelain dolls. Helen was an accredited teacher in Tole painting with some of her paintings winning both local and national awards. Helen is survived by her sons Larry Payne and his girlfriend Sherrie Willis, of Thorton, CO, Douglas Payne at home, her grandchildren Christian Payne, Stephanie and her husband Jeff Bowen, Nick Payne and his girlfriend Deanna Bowles, of Boulder, CO, Christopher and Kelli Payne, great-grandchildren  Maggie Payne, Carter and Jack Bowen, a special cousin, Ruth Arnold, who was like a sister to her, her companion Harold Whiting and many  more cousins. The family would like to thank her home health aids Sarah Tittl, Sara Kurtz and the staff rom Hospice who made her final days more comfortable.

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Thursday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Pastor Peggi Eller will officiate.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery in the Spring.
