John F. Bartus, Jr, 78, of Chenango Forks passed away on July 28, 2016. He was raised in East Aurora, NY and graduated from Canisius High School in 1956. He received his engineering degree from Purdue University and later worked as a planning engineer for NYSEG becoming a member of their Quarter Century Club. Family was always important to John.  He enjoyed spending time with his family boating on Cayuga Lake and vacationing for forty three years at Lake George and for many years in Ogunquit, Maine. He was mechanically inclined and could fix anything around the house from appliances to cars and tractors.  John was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan, almost never missing a game, even if he had to sit and listen to it on the car radio. He had a great sense of humor and a positive disposition. Anytime it rained he could always find a bit of blue sky and say, "It's brightening up over there". He will be deeply missed by his beloved family; his wife Rosemarie of Chenango Forks, sons Gregory of Brooklyn and Christopher and his wife Christian of Simpsonville, SC, his two precious granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kayla, his sister Mary Ellen Dye of Buffalo, special nephews Mark, Alan, AJ and Josh, along with other nephews and his poker buddies.

The family will receive friends Friday August 5 from 10:30 am -12:00 noon at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. There will be a time to share his life and stories at 12:00 noon. Afterwards everyone is invited to attend a luncheon at the Lost Dog Cafe on Henry Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to PKD Foundation (Pkdcure.org) in John's memory. Please sign John's guestbook at www.HEFUNERALHOME.com
