Lula Simons (Buchanan), “Bucky” to her friends and co-workers, passed away peacefully February 21, 2017 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. Lula was retired from the Binghamton State Hospital where she worked for over 30 years.  Lula was an excellent bowler and a very sharp poker player. She loved to crochet blankets and take trips. Her favorite trip was to Canandaigua where she loved wine tasting and shopping in the stores in Watkins Glen. She loved the four seasons, and her animals. Buddy her dog and companion was everything to her and was always by her side.

 

Lula is survived by her daughters; Delores Hornick, Gloria Clark, Vicki Buchanan, Brenda Moore, Deborah Buchanan, Jessica Buchanan, brother Alvie Bullock, sister Lois Popp and brother Charlie Simonds, grandchildren;  Nicola Allard Wayman and Wayne of PA, Jenny Allard and William Sanders of Tennessee, Amy Lou Allard and Charlie Albert,  Michelle Brandy Hall and James Doino, of PA, Thomas and Robert Hornick, Michael Pavlisak, Melissa, Jeffery, James, Jason and Jackie Fitch and her special granddaughter Lori (Kelly), numerous great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as special friends Linda Fancher, Shirely Herde and Beth Allard, also the men who were so dear to her through the years  Roger Allard, Vern Moore, Donald Stewart, Jerry Kuzinier and Ron Sepila.

 

She was predeceased by her companion of 30 years, Jack Heller, brothers Herbert Simonds and Leo (Turk) Simonds, Jim Bullock, sisters Mae Buchanan Simonds, Maetta Simond Beach and Elsie Backo; special sister-in-law, Dorothy Simonds, brother-in-law William Buchanan, grandson Roger Allard, Jr., and a dear friend Andy  Backo

Lula so enjoyed the family reunions and loved everyone and felt so loved back by all.
 
Bucky requested no services. The family requests in lieu of flowers you honor Bucky's memory by making a gift to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
