Mary A. (Cherevko) Havel, of Endwell, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2017. Daughter of the late John and Anna (Andrek) Cherevko. Beloved wife of the late John F. Havel and loving mother of David (Nancy) Havel (Virginia Beach, VA), John (Sandy) Havel (Endicott, NY), Rita Foran (Endicott, NY), James (Mindy) Havel (Virginia Beach, VA), Nancy (Tom) Lyons (Endwell, NY), Joseph (Betty) Havel (Endwell, NY), Maryann Rein (Endwell, NY) and Thomas (Danielle) Havel (Latham, NY). Predeceased by brother John Cherevko and brother-in-law Leonard Havel; survived by sister-in- law Margaret Cherevko (Endicott, NY), brother-in- law Thomas (Margaret) Havel (Middle Granville, NY), numerous Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and their families. Mary was a life-long parishioner of St Joseph’s Church, Endicott, NY, was a former choir member, and volunteered at the annual Bazaar including making the holupki.  She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and Czechoslovak Moravan Club, and former member of Nocturnal Adoration Society, Perpetual Adoration, Legion of Mary, Altar Rosary Society and First Slovak Catholic Ladies Association (FSCLA). She was a past regent for Catholic Daughters and a former officer for Zenska Jednota Junior members. She was also a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She participated in Perpetual Adoration at Our Lady of Angels/Church of the Holy Family Chapel for many years and a monetary donation was made in her name in 2005 allowing new chairs to be purchased for the chapel. She worked at Remington Rand, at Endicott Johnson Sales Building, IBM, Grand Way, and John’s Restaurant. She loved to garden, travel, crochet, and was a caregiver and babysitter who was always available to volunteer or provide care for anyone who asked.  Her Catholic faith and her family were very important to her.  She loved her family and would put their needs above hers and would show off pictures of them to everyone she met. Family will receive visitors at St. Joseph’s Church, 207 Hayes Ave., Endicott, NY 13760 on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am immediately followed by a Funeral Mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St Joseph’s Church Handicapped Entrance Fund.
