Robert J. Barton, 85, of Kirkwood passed away peacefully March 21, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by a son Robert J. Barton in 2010 and a brother Donald Barton. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary L. Barton of Kirkwood,four sons, John R. (Rick) Barton of Binghamton,  Joseph R. (Amy) Barton, Stephen (Billie) Barton, Brian (Jamie)  Barton, all of Kirkwood, 10 grandchchildren; Anthony (Colleen) Barton, Rachel Barton, Rebecca Barton, Jolynn Barton, Storm Barton, Jenna Barton, Alison Barton, Ashley Goodwin, Andrew Barton and Alexis Barton,  3 great-grandsons; Braedyn, Bennett and Mac, one brother Gordon Barton,sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Janette Barton, Arlene (Lloyd) Vosbury, Joseph (Barbara) Colburn, Sally Colburn (Edna Sylvia), many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Bob was a retiree of the NYSDOT in Kirkwood. He served in the NYARNG, retiring at the rank of Command Sergeant Major of the 204th Engineer Battalion in Binghamton. He was a member of the Kirkwood Senior Citizens. Bob loved nature and enjoyed hiking in the Adirondacks with his family. He also enjoyed eating breakfast with his friends at restaurants and diners all over the Binghamton area. His greatest pleasure in life though was spending time with his family.
