Vito Aiello, 83, of Whitney Point died peacefully July 15, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Italy and moved his family to the United States in 1972. He was deeply devoted to his family, working tirelessly to provide the best for them. He worked for the United Nations and after retirement he moved to Whitney Point where he founded Aiello's Restaurant for his sons to operate. He was a highly skilled small game hunter. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Giuseppa Aiello, his beloved sons, Calogero (Charlie) and Angela Aiello and Vincenzo and Maria Aiello, his cherished grandchildren, Josephine Aiello, Maria (Lear Dahl) Aiello Dahl, Vito V. Aiello, Giuseppa (JeremyMcGuire) Aiello McGuire Anna M. Aiello and Vito F. Aiello and two cherished great-grandchildren, Sofia and Elena Kendrick, along with his sister Francesca Gioia, brother Raimondo (Maria) Aiello, sister-in-law Grazia Aiello (widow of his brother Salvatore) and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Sunset Memorial Services, 2659 Main St. Whitney Point. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday at St. Patrick's Church, Whitney Point. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that gifts be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. (http://www.alz.org/) or the American Heart Assoc. (http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/) in memory of Vito (Donations will also be accepted at the funeral home).
