On behalf of the McStine family, it is with profound shock and sadness that I publicly confirm the death of my father, Bill McStine, at age 53. The autopsy revealed a severe problem with his left ventricle, unknown to him, leading to a very sudden heart attack at his home on Tuesday evening.

Dad took great pride in his two sons. His support in our pursuits to further our individual talents and interests brought him great joy. He gave me the gift of music. It was his lifeblood, and it became an almost evangelical mission for him to seek out the exceptional, and to share it with anyone willing to listen. He was an avid sports fan, and served nearly two decades on the Board Of Directors for various youth sports programs.

Most of us are fragile creatures on the topic of death, and we often tend to eulogize our dearly departed with blinders on. For those who really knew Bill, it would be insincere to sugar-coat the very unique qualities that made him who he was. The extremities of his personality could peg the needle in the red into any part of the spectrum, but in his very best moments, his love, loyalty and camaraderie was unwavering. He had a distinct humor and bravado in which the contents were certainly not for everyone. There were many times where I processed some of these aspects as a fault, but in the end, I believe I have to give him an overdue credit for always sticking to his guns, and for unapologetically marching to his own drum.

As for any questions about funeral proceedings, we will be taking our time. We feel that the traditional routes would be the antithesis to who he was as a person, and when we have had enough time to process, we will plan something that honors him in the most appropriate ways possible.

For now, we greatly appreciate the outpouring of support, and we take immeasurable solace in realizing the impact he had on so many people. If you were a friend or acquaintance of Bill, we encourage you to please share this post with as many people as you see fit. Keep him in your thoughts, and may those memories be something that brings an uncontrollable smile to your face.

With love and respect,

Randy and Jared McStine
