Arthur Paul LaRose

Arthur P LaRose of Vestal, NY, age 87, passed away peacefully at Mercy House on Sunday November 24, 2019.  He was pre-deceased by his parents Arthur E and Edna LaRose and grandson Bryan LaRose. Art is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Catherine. He is also survived by his 4 children, William LaRose (Margaret), Catherine Urda (Christopher), Mark LaRose (Sonya) and Lisa Ward (Daniel); sister Maralyn Bankes, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Art was a Navy Veteran having served from 1952 to 1956. He was assigned as a medic attached to a fleet marine division and was stationed at Annapolis, MD as an athletic trainer for various Academy teams and Okinawa, Japan before his discharge. As a parishioner of Holy Spirit Church, Art was active as a member of the choir, a church trustee, officer of the Social Club and volunteer worker at Bingo, Bazars and Picnics. After 39 years of dedicated service, he retired as a VP of Columbian Mutual Life Insurance Company. In addition to his years of participation in various bowling and dart leagues, Art was an avid sports fan. While being a die-hard NY Giants football fan, his greatest enjoyment came from following his children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s exploits on and off the athletic field. Art’s family is grateful and appreciative of the staff and volunteers of Mercy House for the devoted care they provided to him (and the family) at the end of his life’s journey. Funeral services will be on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Holy Spirit Church on Clinton Street in Binghamton, NY. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home located at 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mercy House 212 N. Mckinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.
