Danette (Maerkl) Merwin

Danette (Dawn) Elaine Maerkl Merwin, age 59, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Thursday morning August 22, 2019. She had been recovering from recent surgeries that were complicated by diabetes. She was living in Binghamton with her long-time companion Roger Graham.

Dawn was predeceased by her mother Bonita Lou Cook Solian. She leaves behind three grown children; Jollene Merwin Gavazzi (Horseheads, NY), Jamie
Baker (Elmira, NY), Jeffery Baker (California) and two grandchildren Jonathan Gavazzi 2nd and Justice Gavazzi. Her father, Daniel Emerick Maerkl, resides in Binghamton with his wife Alice. Dawn was survived by her siblings, four brothers and six sisters; Susan Maerkl Donaldson, Sally Maerkl O’Malley, Diana Brock Basler, Sally Brock Rowe, Wendy Brock, Bobbi Jean Solian Falank, John Maerkl, Dan Maerkl, Jim Maerkl, Brian Maerkl , their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dawn’s favorite season was the fall.The family will be holding a celebration of life later when the leaves are changing. Oct. 5, 2019 from 11am-4pm at Chenango forks state park. There will be no calling hours scheduled. 

Dawn will always be remembered as a beautiful and strong-willed person that loved nature and animals. She loved playing the guitar and listening to music. She is now with her Lord and her mother and other family members in heaven. ~Mathew chapter 5 ~
