Rev. Deacon Richard M. Dunlop, 62, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, February 24, 2014 at his home, after a long illness. He was predeceased by his father, John (Jack) Dunlop, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emrys and Virginia (Clemente) Jones, Jr., and his brother-in-law, John Micha. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Judy Dunlop, two devoted and cherished daughters and one son-in-law, Jennifer (Adam) Foster and Rebecca Dunlop, two grandchildren who brought him much joy, Bridgette and A.J. Foster, his mother Irene Dunlop, his sisters Margaret Micha, Marie (Larry) Sall and Rita (Tom) Moesch, brother-in-law, Tom Jones,many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends and many beloved canine companions.
 
 
Rich graduated from Binghamton North High School and Simmons School of Mortuary Science. In the 1970's he was manager of the CVS pharmacy on Main St. in Johnson City. He was also a funeral director in Binghamton for almost 30 years and the owner of Broome Monument Co. for 21 years.
 
 
   A devoted parishioner of the Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church in Binghamton, Deacon Richard first began his service to the church as a young boy as an altar server and continued into adulthood as a member of the Holy Name Society, and also as cantor and choir director for 17 years before being ordained to the Holy Office of Deacon in the Byzantine Catholic Church, Eparchy of Passaic on September 21, 2003. He was proud to be a lifelong resident of Binghamton's 1st Ward, where he made many lifelong friends and was affectionately known as "Hawk". Rich's family wishes to express their gratitude to everyone that made visits, sent cards and prayed for Rich and the family during his illness.

The office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy will be concelebrated at 10:00 am Friday at the Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, 360 Clinton St. Binghamton. The Most Rev. Kurt Burnette, Bishop of the Eparchy of Passaic presiding, assisted by other Byzantine Clergy. Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Parastas will be at 6:00 pm.
 
 
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Red Cross.
