A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
Our beloved mother, Donna R. Welch, was called to her Heavenly home on Monday March 19, 2018. She was born November 21, 1943, in Binghamton, daughter of the late Donald Bentley, Sr. and Marjorie Lake Bentley.
She is survived by her beloved family, three daughters, Robin Vlcek D'Angelo Mangan (Jim), Shelly Vlcek Bruhn (Dennis) and Jennifer Webster (Tony Skojec), her cherished grandchildren, Jason Webster, Ava Webster and Isabella Skojec, her step-sons, James Welch and family, and Larry Welch and family, her brother and sister-in-law Jon and Sue Bentley, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband John Welch, daughter Wendy Vlcek and brother Donald Bentley, Jr.
Donna enjoyed reading and was a member of the Book Club at Barnes and Noble. She formerly worked as a legal secretary but more recently she had worked at Wal-Mart in Vestal as a retail clerk. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She was an amazing cook and took great delight in cooking and baking for her family.
Her single greatest joy in life was her family, particularly her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and she was the only babysitter they ever knew.
The family will receive friends at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Friday at the funeral home, followed by burial in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
