Binghamton: Dorothy A. Punako, 84, passed away July 25, 2018 at her home. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Charles Punako and their children, Diane Hover of Binghamton, Thomas Punako of Bakersfield, CA, Sonya (Ken) Hildebrandt of Vestal, and Nancy Mastry of Vinton, VA, grandchildren Elliott, Mallory and Gwendolyn Hover, 3 great-grandchildren, a sister Evelyn Clement and brother Thomas (Danielle) Botlock, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Sophie (Barron) Botlock and son-in-law Nick Mastry. Dorothy was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner at both Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church and St. James Church. Dorothy graduated from Windber Hospital Nursing School and worked for 34 years as a Registered Nurse at UHS. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday at St. James Church, 147 Main St. Johnson City. Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. In lieu of flowers please donate blood in memory of Dorothy or make a donation to Lourdes Hospice.
