Guy E. Wellman, 94, of Kirkwood entered into the Gates of Heaven as a born again Christian on May 4, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy, stepson Thomas (Sandra) DeHaven of Binghamton, two grandsons Christian and Connor, sisters-in-law Eve Roys of Kirkwood and Robin (Charlie) Lavee of Binghamton and his brother-in-law, Dick Weale of Largo, FL. Guy was predeceased by his son Carl Wellman. Guy was a kind and gentle man. He enjoyed music and was a talented musician, playing many instruments, including tuba, saxophone, guitar and banjo. He proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the US Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Kirkwood VFW Post 6625, the John Philip Sousa American Legion Post and the Masonic War Veterans. Guy was a Past Master of Windsor Lodge #442 F&AM, member and past High Priest of Vallonia Chapter 80 R.A.M., past Grand Line officer NY Grand Chapter R.A.M., Past Illustrious Master Cryptic Masons, Past Commander Malta Commandery #21 K.T. and a recipient of the Knight York Cross of Honor. He was a member of Kalurah Shrine and former director of the Shrine Band. Guy worked at the Binghamton State Hospital as an Electrical Supervisor prior to his retirement.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at the Hopler & Eschbach, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Rev. Dan Baker, Rev. Ken Bascom and Rev. Diane Prentice will co-officiate. Burial will follow in E. Bridgewater Cemetery, E. Bridgewater, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 pm. Masonic services will be held at 6:45 pm.
