So sad to learn of Dutch Magill's passing. He was a tremendous resource to bench and bar throughout NY State's Village Courts. His Magill's manuals were and remain indispensable resources for the practice of criminal violation law in the local courts. RIP, Dutch! My sincere deep condolences to the family.

To Pat, Heather, Doug and family
So very sorry for your loss. I felt privileged to work with Judge Magill for many years. He always made the work interesting and I learned a lot from him. I will miss seeing him in the meeting room during our exercise sessions. I know Wandas gong to miss picking on him as he usually had to dance around her to get out.
Will be in much thought and prayer for the difficult days ahead.

I knew "Dutch" as Don aka "Mr. Magoo" as the only pilot in the 327th Aviation Detachment with a shaved pate. He was very well received by the brotherhood, and proved his skills as a UH-1 Pilot.
I remember one training flight when he, as Pilot in Command, and I as a Sergent/Crew Chief were paired with no Co-Pilot. We left Hancock Field on a routine flight. At our turnaround point he offered me the controls to fly the aircraft back home, which I was thrilled to do.
RIP, Mr. Magoo . . . You will be remembered at the next meeting of the past 327th & 423rd Aviation.

I was an EMT-CC tech with Owego Fire EMS. at work and on the ambulance call when Dutch had a serious heart attack at IBM Owego many years ago, we defibrillated him 2 times enroute to Lourdes. He survived that entire incident and went on to retire, and take his career path. Fine man, honored to have helped him when it could have been shorter. Eric Phelps, Apalachin. NY.

Beautiful service today that I am glad I got to be a part of. Judge Magill wasn't just a good man, but much more than that. He was an inspirational man. After speaking with him I always felt uplifted, hopeful, and truly inspired. I will miss the lessons he would give me at court, all he taught me, and the talks of life that I enjoyed so much. He was so many wonderful things, honest, fair, courageous, giving, compassionate, and as I came to find, loving. He truly made a difference in this world. Thank you Judge Magill for all you gave me. I am blessed to have known you. To the family: I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed dearly. I hope you find comfort in knowing that it was a life well lived. He did good in this world. He did great. Sending love and condolences your way.

Thank you for your kind words. Dutch was so looking forward to the reunion of his flight class of 50 yrs. ago. We had all of our reservations set. It was not meant to be, he fought hard, I'm sure he will be with you in spirit at the reunion. Jim Horan and Gary Kimbrell were here fo his funeral, and Jim gave a beautiful eulogy for my husband. Pat and the whole McGill Famliy . What a great friend and a wonderul "GO to GUY " Dutch was for me . At conference time "Dutch and Pat" always saw to it that we sat with them . I alway's felt blessed to be in the company of the McGills. Not a single Court date goes by that some attorney or District Attorney asks me if they could look at my McGills. His manuals in the Court Rooms across the State are as common as Salt and Pepper at the Dinner table. (every one uses them). And to Daughter Kerry thank you so much for your text in the first hour of his passing . I will always remember the exact spot on I -86. As I was when returning home to Owego from a Court session that I had just finished as Acting Justice for the late Hon Richard Koons Village of Waverly Justice who died while in office . It was my last day to serve in that position . I was feeling the loss of Judge Koons another good friend. That I worked with for 23 years as his acting Justice . On that very hard raining afternoon again in route home to Owego . Little would I know I would receive notification that I/we lost another GREAT friend and Judge . Thank you so much Kerry. God Bless the soul of "Dutch McGill" and my he rest in Peace .
