Ada (Bogin) Brummer

It is with great sadness that the family of Ada Brummer announces her passing on October 10, 2021 at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell from Covid.  She was 100 years old.  Ada was predeceased by her parents, Celia (Sherman) Bogin and Mortimer Bogin, her husband Harold Brummer, her brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Sylvia Bogin and her son-in-law Douglas Williams.

Ada was born on June 1, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY.  She grew up in the Bronx, graduated from Evander Childs High School in 1938 and Hunter College in 1942.  She married Harold Brummer and they moved to Malverne, Long Island to raise their family.  She was the best mother and grandmother to all of us.  She taught her children to be loving spouses and parents.  She was our role model.  No one could have been more non-judgmental than Ada.  Her personality was easy-going.  Her sense of humor was contagious.  She leaves us enriched by her presence and grateful for the life lessons and memories she gave us.

Ada lived a long, happy, healthy and fulfilled life.  Harold was a devoted husband for 52 years.  She was loved and treasured by her children:  Susan and Howard Herzog, Jane Williams, Charles Brummer and Lynne Donaldson, her grandchildren: Scott Boyajian, Todd Herzog, Amanda and Jason Donahue, Erin Williams, Matthew and Shiori Brummer, Maxwell Williams, Courtney and Jon Ofria and her great grandchildren: Sander, Grace, Athena, Cameron and Helen.  

Our family wishes to thank Ada’s caregivers at Good Shepherd Village for the many kindnesses they showed our Mom.  Burial will be on Monday, October 11 at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens, NY.  Donations may be made in Ada’s memory to Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 204, Norwood, NJ 07648.
