Anita A. (Alkinburg) Shipway

Anita A. Shipway, 84, passed away January 5, 2023 at Mercy House. Anita is survived by her husband Richard Shipway, whom she married July 2, 1960; her children, Michael Shipway and Edlyn (Barry) Dutton; her grandchildren, Charles (Courtney Stanton) Dutton, Alexander Dutton and Sarah Dutton and a son-in-law Scott Paris and his wife Cindy. Anita was predeceased by her son Charles Shipway; daughter Susan Paris and sister Nancy Brown. Anita was a life long learner and lover of music. For many years she sang in the Holy Family Church choir and the Downtown Singers. She loved reading and writing poetry and was a member of the Nanticoke Valley Historical Society, where she served on the board and led many student tours. Anita had also been a regular volunteer at Mercy House.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St., Endwell. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 pm Monday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St., Binghamton, NY.
