Endwell: Barbara Anne (Ries) Rader, 85, passed away June 7, 2024 surrounded by all her children. She is survived by her children Elaine (Monty) Hart, David Hartung, Merry Hartung, Dee Pero and Kathy Kosyla; 15 grandchildren Christopher, Nikki, Joshua, Matthew, Katie, Jeremy, Travis, Anthony, Bugsy, Christian, Angela, Elizabeth, Sarah, Jessica and Carlos and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Herbert Hartung (1967) and H. Neil Rader (2023); her parents Joseph A. and Elsie K. Ries and her brother Joseph R. Ries.
Barbara was a devoted lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she was active in the Rebecca Circle, various church ministries and missions and as a member of the church council. She was a life member of the Germania Maennerchor (Binghamton German Club) and was very proud of her German heritage and traditions. Family vacations and trips to Rader's Roost, the family cottage on Cayuga Lake were also important to her. She immensely enjoyed gardening as well as golfing. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper at various employers over the years and in retirement she volunteered to complete income tax returns for seniors. Recently she had enjoyed attending the Western Broome Senior Citizens Center. The family wish to thank the caregivers in Lourdes ER and Seton 1, especially Devyn for the care provided to Barbara.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Tuesday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 72 Main St. Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift in her memory to her church.
