Becky L. Smith

  Becky L. Smith, 74, passed away peacefully August 30, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Philip Smith; her son Michael (Trisha Braman) Smith; mother Doris Bowen; step-children Erin Smith and Philip (Stacey) Smith; grandchildren Bryant, Meya, Mave, Jade, Philip, IV and Linus; sister Sandra (Scott) Sweet; brother Jeff (Lisa) Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her father Richard Smith and brother Mark Smith.

  Becky was a remarkable soul with a legacy of love and compassion that will forever endure. She was a tireless activist and freedom fighter, dedicating her life to the fight for the oppressed. Her commitment to justice and equality was unwavering and inspired countless lives. Her compassion knew no bounds. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer a listening ear. 

   As a loving mother, Becky had an extraordinary bond with her son, Michael. She showered him with boundless affection, unconditional love, wisdom and strength, instilling in him the value of empathy, resilience and the importance of standing up for what is right.

  Becky's love for her husband Phil was a rare and beautiful thing. They truly were soulmates and their bond was a testament to the power of love. Together they shared a partnership filled with respect, admiration and unwavering support.

  Becky adored her grandchildren, Bryant, Meya, Mave, Jade, Philip IV, and Linus. She treasured every moment she spent with them. She loved them more than anything. Watching them on the basketball court, the soccer field or just doing the things they've loved filled her heart and soul with joy.

  A true survivor, Becky faced life's challenges with grace, fearlessness and tenacity, always finding a way to thrive and inspire those around her.

  Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday Sept. 5 at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in her memory be made to STAP, 22 Riverside Dr. Binghamton 13905.
