Betty L. Truax, 97 of Binghamton, joined Harold, her husband of 67 years and her son Tom, in Heaven on October 3, 2024 at Mercy House. She was born in Johnson City and lived her entire life in Broome County. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Bennett of Endicott; daughter-in-law Sharon Truax of Apalachin; five grandchildren Jessica (Chris), Jason (Debbie), David (Janelle), Paul (Jenean), Marissa (David), eight great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; sisters Isabel Harding, Doris Rose; brother Harvey McFall; many nieces and nephews; special friends Juanita Morgan and Shari Smith and her “adopted kids” who lovingly called her “Ma”. In addition to her husband and son, she was predeceased by her brother Ralph McFall Jr.
Betty was a lifetime member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring person and was well known for her delicious Red Velvet cake. She enjoyed writing and sending cards to friends and family, she called it her, “Greeting Card Ministry”. Her family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Seton 1, Lourdes Hospital for their excellent care and to Pastor Scott and Pastor Tim for their support as well as her physicians Dr. Leichner, Dr. Fitzpatrick and Dr. Bellamy.
There will be a private family service and interment at Riverhurst cemetery, Endwell. A memorial service will be held 12:00 noon October 19, 2024 at the Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00-11:50 am. Please make a donation to Mercy House or Guthrie Lourdes Hospice in her memory.
