Catherine LaRose

Catherine LaRose formerly of Vestal, NY, age 92, passed away peacefully at Celebration Village in West Virginia on Wednesday August 14, 2024.  She was pre-deceased by her parents Basil Figler and Catherine (Potak) Figler, husband Arthur P LaRose, sister Stephanie Kopiak and grandson Bryan LaRose. Kay is survived by her brother William Figler, 4 children, A William LaRose (Margaret), Catherine Urda (Christopher), Mark LaRose (Sonya) and Lisa Ward (Daniel), 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Kay graduated from the Caledonian Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. When the 4 children were school aged, she entered back into the workforce finding her passion working with the geriatric population and was employed by the Vestal Nursing Home and River Meade Manor nursing home until her “official” retirement in 1982. As a parishioner of Holy Spirit Church, Kay was an active member and officer of the Holy Spirit Mothers Club and volunteer worker at bingo, bazaars and picnics. Kay received her greatest enjoyment from following her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s exploits on the athletic fields and in the classroom.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 5 pm to 6 pm at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home located at 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY. The funeral will follow at 6 pm. The South Centry New York-Binghamton Nurse Honor Guard will conduct a memorial service at 5:30 pm

Interment services will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 9:00 am at the Holy Spirit Cemetery, Route 12 in Chenango Bridge, NY.
