In Loving Memory of a True Adventurer Darlene Maria Burns, born June 18, 1951, passed away on September 22, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Michael Burns, her parents, and her siblings. Darlene is survived by her loving children, Kevin (Amanda) Burns and Steven (Katie) Burns, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Colin, Konnor, and Leah, who brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind her cherished cat, Buddy, who was always by her side. A graduate of SUNY Oswego, Darlene dedicated over 30 years to Binghamton University. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH). Darlene was passionate about travel and cherished the time spent cruising the world with her family. Her love for life, family, and adventure will forever be remembered by those she touched. Though her earthly journey has ended, Darlene’s spirit will sail on in the hearts of her loved ones, always reminding them to embrace life’s adventures with the same joy she did.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Monday Sept. 30 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Court St. Binghamton. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the American Cancer Society or Project PAW in memory of Darlene.
