On October 26, 2023, eleven days after the death of Stanley, her beloved husband of 70 years, Dorothy C. Forsyth, 94, quietly passed into his waiting arms and now they are again holding hands together for eternity.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kathy) Forsyth, Terry (Stephanie) Forsyth and Elizabeth (David) Petrozello; 4 grandchildren, Bethany (Matt) Lowrie, Katie (Rick) Konz, Todd (Jackie) Forsyth and Tim Petrozello; great-grandchildren, Kellan, Eli, Declan, Addison and Avery; sister and brother-in-law Margaret "Peg" (Richard “Dick”) Trebilcock; her caring and devoted health care provider Maria Patton; and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Henry and Florence Rosenzweig.
In 1949, Dorothy received her Associates Degree in Institutional Food Service from Cobleskill State School of Agriculture. In her early years she worked at Binghamton North High School and Lourdes Hospital; in later years, after raising her children, she served as Director of Food Services for Chenango Valley School District. In retirement, she and Stan enjoyed their winter home in Ellenton, Fl, traveling in their camper, taking cruises and senior citizen bus trips. Dorothy was a member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church and the First Ward Senior Citizens Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, 918 Upper Front St. Binghamton. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton.
