Dorothy (Dodie) Marie (Hartwig) Rushmer

Windsor: Dorothy (Dodie) Marie Rushmer, 78, passed away June 23, 2022 at her home after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 2009 and her parents John and Mary Hartwig. She is survived by her beloved family; her children Renee M. (Gary) Kenney of Annapolis, MD, Thomas S. (RuthAnn) Rushmer of Freeville, NY and Jason H. (Bernadette) Rushmer of Dallas, PA; grandchildren Katie (Mickey) Sines, Grace Rushmer, Thomas Joseph (TJ) Rushmer and Sarah Rushmer; 2 great-granddaughters Ramona and Chloe; her cherished companion Conrad Laframbroise; sister Patricia (Frank) Slingerland; brother John Hartwig; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Haas and Darlene Rushmer, numerous nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends. Dodie was a graduate of Binghamton North High School. She enjoyed walking, baking and wintering in South Padre Island, TX. Dodie was an amazing mom and grandmother with a deep love for her family and friends. She opened her heart and home to everyone, including eight foster children. She was a loyal friend to many and will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends  from 5-7 pm Monday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton (Due to road construction please approach Chenango St. from Bevier St.). Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at the  funeral home.  Burial will follow in Knox Cemetery, Ouaquaga. In lieu of flowers please make a gift to the Children's Home of the Wyoming Conference 1182 Chenango St. Binghamton 13901 for their foster care program.
