Duane "Dewey" G. Gevert, aged 79, of Binghamton, NY, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at Willow Point Nursing Home. Born on July 24, 1945, to the late Reverend Glenn and Ruth Gevert, Dewey is now in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dewey graduated from Harpursville Central High School in 1963, attended college and received his bachelor's degree. Following his graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1968 as a helmsman. His service was marked by dedication and a deep sense of duty.
Known for his kind heart and infectious sense of humor, Dewey had a unique ability to bring joy to those around him. His quick wit and ready smile were a source of comfort and laughter to family and friends alike.
Dewey is survived by his beloved sisters, Joyce Rezucha and her husband Wally, and Marilyn Porter and her husband Daniel. He leaves behind his nephew, Bryan Rezucha, and his wife Alice, along with their children, Zachariah Rezucha and his wife Tabatha, and Haley Beckett and her husband Christopher. Dewey is also survived by Marilyn's children, Jon Crissell and his wife Tammy, with their children Alex and Alexis, and Jeffrey Crissell with his children Christian and Mattie.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Willow Point Nursing Home for the compassionate care provided to Dewey during his stay.
Dewey will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and humor will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
