Edward (Ed) DePersis was summoned to the Lord on December 16, 2024 to receive his reward for his kindness, his generosity and for taking such excellent care of his wife for so many years. Well done, good and faithful servant! He was predeceased by his loving wife Irene after 54 years of marriage; his parents, Modesto and Mary Romeo DePersis; his brother Joseph DePersis and his wife Theresa, and his sister-in-law Nancy DePersis. He is survived by his brothers Ronald and Peter (Cecelia) DePersis and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A graduate of Broome Community College, he was employed by Ansco in Quality Control for 43 years. Ed served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Ed and Irene were long-time members of Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church. Together they sang in the choir, and were the cantors for daily liturgy for 13 years. Ed served as a church trustee for many years, and helped with any church function that needed a volunteer.
Friends may call at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, 360 Clinton Street, Binghamton on December 30, 2024 between 9:00am and 9:50am. The Office of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am, concelebrated by the Very Rev. Father Steven Glauschik and long-time friend, Father John Cigan. He will be buried with military honors at Holy Spirit Cemetery following his funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Mercy House, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
