Elaine Austine Mertz

Elaine Austine Mertz, 78 of Johnson City, passed away on June 9, 2026 surrounded by family. She is survived by her loving husband Wayne Mertz; Children, Dale C. (Brenda) Mertz, Sanya A. Brown, Tiana V. Mertz, Bryden B. (Angela) Mertz; grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Sofia-Lynn Mertz and Micah Mertz. She is also survived by her brother Charles “Buddy” (Susie) Caton; nieces and nephews Cindy Snyder, Carolyn (Jon) Peters, Russell Caton, David Caton, and Michael Caton. She is predeceased by her siblings James, Glen, and Jesse, as well as her parents Herbert and Elsie.

Elaine was a proud member of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years. She also loved knitting, crocheting, and Diamond Painting.

Calling hours will be held at Central Baptist Church, 1606 Upper Front Street, Route 12 Binghamton NY from 2-3pm on Wednesday June 17, 2026. A memorial service will follow at 3pm, officiated by Pastor L.D. Maxson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home.
