Elizabeth Rappaport died at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the age of 102. Known as Lib, she and her seven siblings were second-generation Jewish-Americas, her parents having immigrated from Eastern Europe. She graduated from New York University in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. While attending college, she married her soulmate Joseph, also a second-generation Jewish-American. Lib and Joe lived on Kress St where they welcomed their two children Glenna and Harry before buying their permanent home on Aldrich Ave. Lib was an avid walker, up until the week before she died, a skilled baker, voracious reader, and lover of children. She is survived by her two children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HAIS, a Jewish-American nonprofit that provides aid to refugees and asylum seekers.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday March 8, 2023 at Temple Israel Riverside Cemetery.
