Ernest Andrew Flamik, 63, passed away on April 6, 2024, in Binghamton, New York. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Marlene A. and Ernest J. Flamik.
Ernie graduated from Binghamton Central High School, Catholic University, and Virginia Tech. Throughout his quarter of century career as an Architectural Engineer for IBM, Ernie held many positions in both Maryland and New York.
Ernie was a life-long Virginia Tech Hokies and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and a big New York Mets baseball fan. Ernie also enjoyed Binghamton Hockey, from the Dusters to the Black Bears.
Ernie was a life-long active member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, where he served as a Cantor at Saturday Vespers. In addition, Ernie volunteered weekly at St Michael’s helping to serve meals to the underprivileged and making pirohi for the annual sales. Ernie was also an active member as a Marshall for the Johnson City Unity Lodge 970 F. & A. M.
Ernie is survived by his Significant Other, Claudia Milano, sister Tamara (Paul) Murray, son Andrew (Laura) Flamik, granddaughter, Whitney Flamik; as well as two daughters Meredith (Austin) Schmidt, and Madeline (Blake) Flamik.
A memorial gathering and Celebration of Life will be held in private this summer, at Ernie’s wishes.
