Fern Sternberg Obituary

Sternberg, Fern R.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fern on Thursday, March 13, 2025, just two weeks short of her 91st birthday. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grammie, and Great Grammie and was truly loved by all.  Fern had a sense of humor that made everyone smile. She loved playing practical jokes on family and friends. Her family was her pride and joy as was driving around in her convertible up until last year.

Fern was predeceased by her husband, John, son and daughter-in-law Barry and Sue Sternberg as well as her parents, Herman and Bessie Riger. Also, by her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Sheila Riger. She is survived by her daughter Marci (David) Goodwin, granddaughters Jennifer (Jeff) Kurkoski, Hillary (Joe) Schwantes and Samantha (Kyle) Lake. She is survived by great-grandchildren, Sabrina Schwantes, Cooper James Lake, and Payton Isabel Lake. Fern also is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Hopler Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St., Binghamton, NY on Monday, March 17 from 10:00 -11:00 AM followed immediately by the funeral service. Burial will be at the Temple Israel Cemetery.
