Hamid Sangabi, a professor of Mathematics and Statistics at SUNY Broome died March 5, 2026 in Endicott
He dedicated three decades of service to the College.
Hamid began teaching and tutoring at SUNY Broome in 1993 and retired in 2023, supporting students in both the Business Programs and Mathematics departments.
A respected mathematician, he was equally known for the quiet kindness and generosity he showed to students and colleagues alike.
He will be remembered not only for his knowledge and commitment to learning but also for being a gentle, honorable man who carried himself with integrity and strength.
Janazah prayers will be recited 1:30 pm Sunday at the Islamic Awareness Center at 74 Conklin Ave., Binghamton. Burial will follow in Al-Tawheed Islamic Cemetery, Town Line Rd, Town of Maine.
