Helen [Sedlack] Osborne, 96, Johnson City, NY, went home to be with the Lord, June 30, 2026. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Karen [Mark Troccia] Sarkisian [Brackney, PA] and Pamela Walling [Johnson City NY], her cherished sister Dorothy Sedlack [Johnson City, NY], her beloved grandchildren Brielle and Elliott Sarkisian [Vestal, NY] and Shaun and David Walling [Johnson City, NY]; also survived by many nieces and nephews all across the United States. Helen is predeceased by her loving husband, John R. Osborne; her sisters Anna [Blazicek], Susan [Sedlack], Mary [Masaryk], and brothers George and Michael Sedlack.
Helen was a faithful lifelong member of Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church and loved singing in the church choir, volunteering and playing BINGO, and helping with Easter/bake sales. Helen retired from BOCES after 20+ years working/supervising in the Word Processing/Copy Center Department. After her retirement, she especially loved her trips to Tioga Downs Casino over the years, hosting luncheons and playing cards and dominoes with friends, attending her weekly BINGO events at the Johnson City Senior Center, and spending quality time with her family. She’s lived a lifetime of faith, love, laughter, resilience and kindness that has touched everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Even at 96, her strength, love and will to live came shining through in her smile. Knowing that she is now at peace and forever cherished in our memories is her greatest blessing to all of us.
Karen and Pamela would like to thank Home Health Aide Geri Nolan (and her team) for her years of nurturing spirit, and support, helping to take care of Helen while she was able to remain in her own home and her return for her final days; and also thanks to Becky Pangburn at Reasons Home of Open Hearts (and her team) for taking such attentive care of Helen, making her feel like family while having new friends for the last few months of her life.
The family will receive friends at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton on Thursday July 9 from 10:00 - 10:50 am. The Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am by Very Rev. Fr. Steven Galuschik from Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org).
