Obituary for Inge Levie

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Inge Levie, who died peacefully at the age of 90.

Born in Germany, Inge immigrated to the United States with her family as a young child seeking safety and opportunity during a time of great uncertainty in Europe. 

After World War II, while living in New York City, she met John and together they built a life and eventually settled in Binghamton, New York, where they owned and operated a kosher butcher shop that became a valued part of the local Jewish community.

Inge was an active member of her synagogue throughout her years in Binghamton and Denver. In addition to raising her family and assisting with the family business, she enjoyed a long and respected career as an administrator at Binghamton University.

Following the passing of her beloved husband, Inge moved to Denver, where she enjoyed many interests including Bridge, traveling, Mah Jong, book clubs etc.

Inge is survived by her daughters, Linda Workman and her spouse, and Arlene Levie and her spouse; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John.

 May her memory be a blessing.

A graveside funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Friday June 19, 2026 at Temple Israel Riverside Cemetery, Conklin, New York.
