Irene Martyak Dunlop

Binghamton: Irene Martyak Dunlop, 96, passed away suddenly December 19, 2025. She is survived by her beloved family; her children Margaret Micha, Marie (Larry) Sall and Rita (Tom) Moesch; daughter-in-law Judy Dunlop; grandchildren, David (Erin) Micha, Karen (Joseph) Lopardi, Kevin Micha, Jennifer Dunlop, Rebecca Dunlop, Brian (Erin) Sall and Michael Sall; great-grandchildren, Karalina, Jack, Skyla, Joseph, Jordan, Bridgette, Adam, Benny, Ellie,  Gianna, Amina, Aniyah and Jeremiah;  several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a special cousin Patricia Simkulet. She was preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) Dunlop; her son Deacon Richard Dunlop and her parents Michael  and Anna (Macunich) Martyak.

Irene was a founding member of Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and was an active member of the church Mothers Club. She could always be seen working in the church kitchen baking nutrolls and paska bread. Irene truly was a matriarch - deeply devoted to her family who were blessed by her longevity and the close relationships she developed with each of them. With her husband Jack, she particularly enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Owasco Lake.

The Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton. Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 pm Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Holy Spirit Church, 360 Clinton St. Binghamton, NY 13905, in Irene's Memory.
