Jeffrey F. Moore of Binghamton died suddenly at his home on February 28. He was born in Afton, NY to Irmgard and Edward Moore and lived in many places in the Northeast as a child, finally settling in Binghamton. He earned an A.S. degree in Engineering Sciences from Broome Technical Community College and attended the University of Buffalo.
Jeff was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, A. Carol Towers; daughter Casey Moore of Astoria, NY; sister Heidi Cron of Southaven, MS; and brother-in-law Christopher Towers of Poultney, VT.
He worked at the Broome County Public Library (formerly the Binghamton Public Library) for over 45 years in many capacities, and was still working there at the time of his death. He especially enjoyed working at South Branch and Emma Brown First Ward Branch. Jeff’s favorite job, though, was being a stay-at-home parent to Casey. He taught her how to ride a bicycle, roller-skate, and type, and drove her to and attended all her activities.
Jeff taught himself to play the guitar and was very good at it. He loved playing and said everyone should play the guitar. He also taught himself to play the harmonica and to juggle, although he was less successful at those. Those who knew Jeff always mentioned his sense of humor. He could find the humor in almost any situation and especially loved word play. He also loved reading, watching tv and movies, and word puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Broome County Public Library would be appreciated.
