Jeffrey B. Shapiro

Jeffrey B. Shapiro, 68, passed away March 16, 2025 after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved family; his wife Ruth; their children Lee and Emma Shapiro, Rebecca (Jeremy) Eggleston and Rose (Eric Rouse) Shapiro; 2 cherished grandchildren Bennett and Elyza Eggleston; siblings Beth Yudkowsky and Michael (Sue) Shapiro; his "grand-dogs"  Wilson, Houston, Duncan and Winston and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Melvin and Beverly Shapiro.

 A native of Massachusetts, Jeffrey earned his Bachelor's Degree at UMass Amherst. He settled in Broome County as a dedicated employee of IBM for over 29 years, before retiring. He maintained his love and dedication for all the Boston sports teams, by being an avid fan of the Red Sox, The Patriots, The Celtics and The Bruins. He also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling. Dedicated to his faith, Jeffrey was a long time active member of Temple Israel, volunteering in many capacities over the years. He also served on the JCC Board, Past President of Hillel Academy and until two weeks ago treasurer of the Jewish Federation of Broome County. Jeff's family expresses their deep gratitude to his health care providers at Broome Oncology, Wilson Hospital ER, ICU, MT5 and Johnson City family care.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday March 18 at Temple Israel, 4737 Deerfield Place, Vestal. Burial will follow in Temple Israel Riverside Cemetery.
