Jerome J. Geadrities, 80, of Port Dickinson, NY, passed away January 18, 2026. He is survived by his beloved family, his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Betsy"; their three sons, Christopher, Jason (Rhea Duke) and Jeremy (Ashley); grandson Jeremiah Duke; sister Virginia Lee; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Anna; his sisters Ursula Jablonsky, Irene Jackson and Ann Marie Sheerer; and his brothers, Clarence, Jr., Daniel and George.
A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police (MP) Sergeant in the Icelandic Defense Force. After completing his service, he earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Scranton, and later his Master's degree from Binghamton University. Affectionately referred to as "Mr. G." by colleagues and students, he taught English for 32 years in the Chenango Forks Central School District.
Jerry is most fondly remembered by all who knew him for his captivating wit and gift for storytelling. With warmth and gentle humor, he had a remarkable ability to draw others in; whether to impart hard-earned wisdom, share a meaningful lesson, or simply bring a moment of joy. Storytelling was one of his most cherished passions and a reflection of the generosity of spirit he extended to everyone around him.
Above all, Jerry treasured time spent with his family and close friends. Jerry was a member of American Legion Post 1645 and the Marine Corps League in Binghamton. A lifelong and devoted outdoorsman, he also took great pride in his years as a seasoned fly fisherman and as a dedicated member of Trout Unlimited.
