Binghamton - Jessica Lynn Duffey, 23, passed away May 23, 2022 after a heroic five month battle with cancer. She is survived by her beloved family; her father Randy (Joan R. Marean) Duffey; her sister Jacqueline M. Duffey; her grandmother Karen L. Duffey; aunts and uncles Ron (Pat) Duffey, Debra (Randy) Dunn, Boni (Wayne) Kuenzi, John (Christi) Johnston, Linda (John) Maiurano; countless cousins and friends. Jessica is predeceased by her mother Mary Duffey and grandparents Robert Duffey, Harry and Ida Johnston, and her beloved childhood dog Lass.
Jessica passed away Monday, leaving a huge hole in all our hearts- deeply loved by so many who knew her, Jess invigorated the entire world around her, and in her 23 short years left such a resounding mark on it. Jessica lived everyday full of vivacious life.
I adored, cherished and
LOVED JESS WITH ALL MY HEART. Jessica IS an eternal free loving spirit...she was a reincarnated flower child straight out of the 60's-70's era, she loved traveling, going to music festivals, even her bright yellow bedroom walls are adorned with hippie pastel flowers, tie dye tapestries, frogs, mushrooms, albums, Woodstock posters, etc. Her relentless spirit remained upbeat and ever strong throughout her entire admirably courageous battle as we traveled to her countless weekly doctor appointments and chemotherapy treatments in NY City. It is so very unjust for such a vibrant healthy 23 year to have been stricken with a fluke mutation which progressed into such an aggressive cancer. She lost her beloved childhood Collie dog, Lass, as well as her full time teacher position, ALL on the very same day she received her stage 4 diagnosis (Jan 3rd). Jessica's potential had just begun to fully blossom, she always lived with such a lust for life. She brightened any room by simply walking into it. Jessica graduated from Binghamton High School, SUNY Broome, Oneonta University with high honors, where she played on the Rugby Team (Klamp), and was just beginning a full time teacher position with the Binghamton school district. No words can even begin to describe our overwhelming pain and heartache in losing her. Jessica's everlasting free spirit shines on eternally within us all.
WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL I LOVE YOU FOREVER JESS -DAD
