John A. Brown, 87, was called home to the Lord June 15, 2024. He is survived by his wife Sandra Brown; his children Mary Scudillo, Vanetta Rosevear, John Brown, Naomi Brown, Naolyn Winn, Bethany Conklin and Julie Brown; sisters Sarah "Sally" Baldwin and Rowena Lewis; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by seven siblings, Lura Schwebke, Marie Boots, Lawrence Brown, Dick Brown, Don Brown, Rose Branning, Carl Brown, and cousin Minetta Beckwith who was raised as another sibling.
John was born in Starrucca, PA and lived most of his adult life in the Castle Creek area. He worked as a farmer for many years. He raised horses, enjoyed gardening and just loved his chickens. He also worked as a custodian for the Binghamton Press and the Newark Valley School District.. He expressed his love by cooking and baking and there was always room at the table for one more. He was a lifelong Christian and a member of several Baptist Churches.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday at Grace Baptist Church, 33 Howard Ave. Binghamton. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to his church's elevator fund.
