John "Chris" Stankavage

John "Chris" Stankavage, 50, passed away August 29, 2021 due to complications from multiple medical conditions. He is survived by his mother Sandy Straub, his sister Cheryl Stankavage, his brother Paul Stankavage, his step-mother Lucy Stankavage, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father John D. Stankavage and two uncles David Stankavage and Keith Lamoreaux. Known as Chris to his family, John was a gentle giant who truly loved children, especially babies. He also loved his family deeply and always kept in touch with everyone with his lengthy phone calls. While he was in high school he joined the Harpursville Fire Department. From childhood John loved trucks and enjoyed learning how they were built and how to fix and repair them. He pursued this passion by becoming a long haul tractor trailer driver for many years until health issues prevented him from working.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Thursday at the Ouaquaga United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends from 11:00-11:50 am. Burial will be in the  Knox Cemetery, Ouaquaga.
