Joyce Louise (Stark) Aswad, 74, of Kirkwood, passed away May 30, 2026 at Mercy House, after a brief illness. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, David A. Aswad; their children, Michelle (Brian) Lewis and Thomas (Steven Palmer) Aswad; her "G-babies", Callie and Zachary Yost; siblings, Ervin Stark, Katherine (Robert) Badger, Laurie (Steve) Karastamatis, Kellie (Roger) Boyer; sister-in-law, Hudda Aswad; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Ervin and Dorothy Stark. Joyce was a graduate of Binghamton North High School and worked for 30 years as a food service supervisor at the Binghamton Psychiatric Center. She met David on a blind date in 1970 and a month later accepted his proposal of marriage. Joyce was devoted to her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with them, making "new memories" to cherish.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift in her memory to Mercy House.
