Jules P.H. Furrer

Jules P.H. Furrer, 84, went to be with the Lord January 14, 2025 at Mercy House. He was greeted in Heaven by his wife Carol, his parents Julius and Madeline and sisters Catherine Furrer and Theresa Mills. He is survived by his beloved children Michele Furrer and Paul Furrer (Anna Shepardson); his grandchildren Josten Layman, Jessica Holton, Ashley Brookman-Furrer, Shaun Myles Eldred, Kurtis Coy and Hunter Coy; 8 great-grandchildren and his Godson Gerard Cast. Jules was a loving, caring and kind-hearted man and a devout Catholic. He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Hillcrest where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sunday Lector. He also was a Christian Youth Teacher at the former St. Rita's Church in Chenango Forks. He was a member and past Grand Knight of Holy Trinity Council 11094 Knights of Columbus and a Fourth Degree member and past Faithful Navigator of the Fr. James F. Hourigan Assembly 724. He worked at UHS as a Special Chemistry Lab Technician, retiring  in 2006 after 43 1/2 years of service to UHS. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 1194, serving as Sergeant-at-Arms and four years as Commander. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also loved animals.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am  Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1031 Chenango St. Binghamton. Burial will be in Glen Castle Cemetery in the spring. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Monday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton.
