Leroy A. Minus, Jr., 79, of Binghamton passed away surrounded by family on November 11, 2024.He was born in New York City, son of Leroy A. Minus and Thelma (Jones) Minus. He is survived by his beloved family, his wife Cynthia; their daughters Brittni (and wife Jessica) and Angela Minus; 3 grand-daughters, Shaniece Alston, Shaela Minus and Avina Minus; his aunt Kathleen Flanders; siblings, Renee Minus-White, Antoinette Hamlin, Robert Minus and Yvonne Minus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Russell Minus and Harold Johnson. Leroy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and continued his service in the National Guard until his retirement. Leroy was a member of the Antler Lodge BPOE in Binghamton and worked as a garbage truck driver for the Village of Endicott for many years until his retirement. An avid sports fan, he was a loyal fan of the New York Knicks, the New York Jets, the New York Mets and Syracuse University Basketball. He was also a basketball referee for CYO and the Boys and Girls Club. He enjoyed mentoring his children, nieces, nephews and kids in general, and was a father figure to many.
The family will hold a memorial celebration in honor of his life at the American Legion Post 80 Saturday November 30 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Military Honors will be presented at 6:00 pm.
