Mario Ruttkiewicz Sr. born August 19th, 1963, in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 5th, 2021. Raised in Sommerloch, Germany, Mario immigrated to the United States in 1993. He started with very little in this country. He worked hard over the years and he eventually owned and operated his own business, MR and Son Contracting, LLC. for almost 20 years. There was nothing that Mario couldn’t build or repair. He established a wonderful group of customers over the years, many became family. Mario loved to talk and could hold a conversation with a complete stranger for hours.
Mario had volunteered for many community organizations over the years including, Greater Afton Chamber of Commerce, Afton Community Theatre, Afton Cub Scouts and The Afton Fair Board. Mario was the original creator of Afton’s famous Polar Express Float. He loved to drive it every year in local Christmas parades. Mario was a member of Nineveh Presbyterian Church.
Mario was a loving and devoted husband to Donna, and a wonderful father to Mario Jr. (Malaynah) and Tonie. He is survived by his mother Rosel, sister Liane, and brother Renee – all in Germany and sister Adrienne, Florida. Along with many other relatives and friends in Germany.
He’s also survived by mother-in-law Alice, sisters-in-laws Gloria (Richard), Carol, Toni (Kirk), Tammie (Jeffery), and brother-in-law Donald (Joan), and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mario was predeceased by his father Erhard, brother Jens and brother Dennis.
Mario was an amazing man, he will be remembered by many for his “gift to gab” with his German accent, his sense of humor like no other and his smile that lit up a room.
As per his request there will be no services, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Condolences can be mailed to the family @ 214 O’Brien Rd. Nineveh, NY 13813
